Planning Technologists has been operating both in the UK and overseas for over 15 years. Whilst the projects worked on have been diverse, the broad planning principles apply to any project of whatever nature the project may take. PTL is equipped with not only the software but also the expertise to prepare the necessary plans to bring the client’s Project to a timely completion within the budget constraints imposed.

Recent Professional Activity

2004 to present BP CHP FAWLEY
Senior Planning Engineer brought on the Project by BP to schedule the Commissioning Activities.This was a short term assignment. System used was Microsoft Project 2003.

May 2004 to Sep 2004 SILVERTECH UK (BRITANNIA PROJECT)
Senior Planning Engineer reporting to the technical Manager. Company producing system Controls for an offshore complex. System used was Primavera P3.

2004 AMEC OIL AND GAS (De Ruyters Project)
Lead Planning Engineer for FEED on PetroCanada’s De Ruyters offshore Oil production platform and pipeline.

Project details:

  • The production of a critical path logic network
  • Fully resourced along with progress curves and manpower histograms.
  • Progress reporting on an “earned value” basis.
  • Attendance at weekly Client meetings to present progress.
  • Planning system used was Primavera P3.

2002 - 2004 SAIPEM ENERGY INTERNATIONAL
Planning Engineer for design of five Jackets for offshore Nigeria along with associated Topsides and Pipeline. Scope included putting together a CPM network using Primavera P3, monitoring and reporting progress to management, attending client meetings and entailed some travelling to Paris to complete the work.

2001 - 2002 KELLOG BROWN & ROOT
Employed as Senior Planning Engineer within the proposals group.

  • Developed proposal schedules for a variety of Petro-Chemical Projects.
  • Worked on claims evaluation (forensic planning analysis).
  • System used Primavera P3.

2000 - 2001 TURNER & TOWNSEND (Contract)
Employed as Senior consultant (Contract) on Claims evaluation of a motorway located in Scotland. The claim was in excess of £16 million.

  • Continued to undertake various forensic schedule analyses for a variety of Clients.
  • Systems used included MS Project. Primavera P3,and Power Project.

2000 - 2000 BECHTEL RAIL DIVISION (UK)
Worked on a number of Rail franchise proposals and later acted as Lead Planner (contract) on the Thameslink 2000

  • Project. Systems used included Primavera P3.

1999 – 2000 RAIL LINK ENGINEERING (LONDON)
Employed as Planning Engineer (Contract) on Channel Tunnel Fast Rail Link.

  • Responsible for Planning the “System-Wide” aspect of the fast rail link to the Channel Tunnel Scope covered the Bid
  • Evaluation and award of a major contract for the engineering Design and Track installation.
  • Duties covered Planning, developing an enquiry package, bid evaluations and negotiations with Contractors.
  • Systsems used Primavera P3 and Suretrak.

1998 – 1999 BECHTEL / TECHNIP (PARIS FRANCE)
Employed as Planning Engineer (Contract) on ADNOC Gas Sweetening Plant OGDII.

  • Contract covered Design Engineering, Procurement and Construction of an expansion to existing facilities. Working in Paris as part of the joint venture
  • Between Bechtel and Technip my duties covered putting together logic networks for the home office scope of work (10,000 activities), Risk Analysis and reporting , with specific responsibility for Procurement controls / reporting.
  • Systems used included Primavera P3, Microsoft Excel version 97, and Primavera Montecarlo Risk Package.

1997- 1998 BIOCOMPATIBLES INTERNATIONAL (FARNHAM SURREY)
Employed as Planning Engineer (Contract)

  • Used Microsoft Project version 4 (as a personal licensed user), to produce project plans for the research and manufacture of Cardio Vascular Stents for surgical implanting in humans.
  • Worked with research and development medical scientists to develop state of the art medical devices from design concepts to full blown manufacture.
  • Responsible to the director of operations
  • Obtained certificates and completed training for the use of Primavera P3 and Microsoft Project (version 4).

1996 – 1997 LONDON & CONTINENTAL ENGINEERING (LONDON)
Employed as Planning Engineer (contract). Channel Tunnel Rail Link

  • One of two planning engineers developing an enquiry package for the London Tunnels aspect of the St Pancras to Folkstone rail extension.
  • Systems used- Primavera version 2 for Windows, Suretrak and Microsoft Excel.

1994 - 1996 COSTAIN FUEL SUBSEA ENGINEERING. (SURREY).
Employed as Planning / Cost Engineer (contract) on B.P. Foinaven Project and later as Production Manager for the Schiehallion field.

  • As the responsible project planning engineer for the company’s involvement in the FOINAVEN field my tasks included the production of networks / plans for the design and fabrication of SUBSEA diverless connections for oil applications.
  • Produced progress monitoring systems and was responsible for producing weekly / monthly reports. Later in the contract became Site Representative to oversee the onsite manufacture of the SUBSEA units.
  • This covered detail machining and fabricated weldments. I was also responsible for overseeing the contractors planning efforts.
  • Systems used included Primavera, Suretrak, Microsoft Excel.

1994 - 1994 BRITISH OXYGEN PROCESS PLANTS (SURREY)
Employed as Senior Planning Engineer (contract)

  • Responsible for putting together several proposals for the Engineering, procurement and construction of a variety of Air separation plants
  • Systems used were “Primavera” and “Microsoft Excel”.
