Employment History
Highlighting principle IT (data processing) roles
EUROCONTROL (CRCO), Jan 2008-Mar 2011 (Brussels, Belgium)
Environment: Sun Solaris, Unix, Tuxedo, Pacbase, COBOL, Oracle, SQL, SQL*Plus, Shell-script, Windows, Microsoft Outlook.
- Programmer/analyst developing and maintaining applications within the small Development team of R2 (Business Process Engineering) servicing the Central Route Charging Office (CRCO)
- Analysing and enhancing technical requirements, learning business environment and becoming expert in the technical environment and standards of an international organization responsible for Air Traffic Management.
Developed, maintained, enhanced, tested 70 plus Pacbase screen and batch programs (including report, subroutines and shell-scripts), as well as reusable code and macros. The business requirements included the introduction of Lessee/Lessor relationships, Write Off management, new reimbursement procedures and VAT processing within the CRCO system. Sometimes development and technical analysis involved the complete rewrite of unusable or inappropriate code, and ‘reverse engineering’ to determine functionality.
Specific Pacbase/COBOL expertise and excellent problem solving skills employed in resolving (and developing reusable solutions and macros) in the technical design of complex and sometimes unconventional screens and batch programs. These were required specifically for the very successful Lessee/Lessor and reimbursement projects, working conscientiously and accurately with the high quality work produced by R2D’s analysts.
Mentoring and providing support for colleagues and other contract staff, and offering technical, as well as business and design input whenever possible. Liaising with users and business analysts to investigate, analyse and rectify production errors, for example changes in CODA bank payment information affecting its import onto CRCO’s Oracle tables. Ability to step in and support or take over work from other colleagues to guarantee project completion, and ensure that ‘deadlines’ were met.
