Summary

Derek Gardiner holds a B.Sc. Honours (Tech) in pulp and paper science, which he gained at the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology. After leaving university, he worked at the research centre of MacMillan Bloedel and then returned to the United Kingdom, to work for a leading manufacturer and converter of paper.

He then joined a leading market research consultancy, which specialised in conducting research for companies involved in all aspects of forest products. During this time, he personally undertook a large number of projects in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East.

In 1981, he joined Industrial Market Research, which at that time, was one of the largest market research companies specialising in business-to-business and industrial market research. He was Marketing Director for the company’s operation in Scandinavia and then transferred to IMR’s London office to help develop the company’s services on a broader base. During his time with IMR, Derek undertook and directed a wide range of projects, which involved company customer service and image surveys, market size and structure investigations, diversification research and advertising awareness research.

He left IMR, following the take-over of the company and established International Business Research Limited in 1993. International Business Research (IBR) is an independent company, established in 1993 to provide top quality, international business-to-business and industrial market and marketing research services.

He has built a network of senior consultants and fully experienced research interviewers who work closely together on projects, to provide clients with a very high standard of research and consultancy services. His team has very wide experience of undertaking research, both geographically and by business / industry sector. In view of IBR's international experience, it is very happy to undertake research assignments where perhaps, others may hesitate.
