Summary

A highly experienced IT professional with 25+ years experience gained in the financial software products and services sector. Has been responsible for the implementation of over 50 banking systems in the UK and overseas, specified and developed a number of financial systems, and undertaken Financial Systems consultancy for banks and IT suppliers to the banking market. In 1995 was approached by Wall Street Systems (the treasury systems company) to join them to manage their Scandinavian & Central European Region. In 1999 was asked to add to this management of the Global Strategic Accounts Division. In 2002 was appointed to head up the Asia Pacific region. In 2003 due to the growth of the AP business he relocated to Singapore, returning to run the region from the UK in September 2005, and after the company was sold left them in 2006 to join a Programme Management consultancy. From May 2007 he has operated as an interim manager / consultant.

April 2007 to date: FOX Consulting
Various consulting assignments and associate relationships with banking IT consultancies and software vendors including GFT, Braxxon, Two-Four and Aleri. Major assignments include:

April to Nov 2009 iProfile (Software House)
Interim management role as Head of Product Development & Customer Support. Brought in by the Board to propose and implement a programme to improve the way development, implementation and support is handled and gain additional funding from VC's and private investors.

Aug to Nov 2008 BARCLAYS GRCB - Global Payments
Assignment for the Head of Global Payments Delivery to work with Accenture to deploy their IT implementation methodology (ADM) and in addition define and implement project performance measurement to improve project success rates.

March to May 2008 BARCLAYS GRCB - Global Payments
Assignment for the Chief of Staff of Global Payments to propose improvements to their IT project methodology given a number of significant project issues that had arisen.

BRAXXON LTD / GFT / TWO-FOUR / ALERI
Braxxon and GFT are banking IT consultancies, Two-Four are a treasury systems and consulting business and Aleri provide complex events processing software. Provided consulting and interim management support to these companies.

WALL STREET SYSTEMS (WSS)
2002 - 2006 Regional Director, Asia Pacific
WSS provides enterprise wide, global systems to major banks and corporate clients handling front, middle and back office. The system is highly scaleable from medium size organizations to the largest global banks. Responsibilities and achievements include:

  • Management of all WSS' activities in AP & Australasia
  • Managed delivery of the 2 largest global projects in this period for WSS a) by value (Bank Tokyo Mitsubishi) and b) by coverage (Citibank AP with 14 countries installed as at end 2005)
  • Won first Taiwanese client - Bank of Taiwan in 2003. Went live on schedule within budget including first use of Chinese language capability
  • Significant growth in business from existing accounts
  • Identified and negotiated distribution agreements for 2 regional partners in Japan and Taiwan

1995 - 2002 Regional Manager, Scandinavia & Central Europe

1999 - 2003 Regional Manager, Strategic Accounts
 Responsibilities and achievements included:

  • Ownership of all regional activities for WSS including sales and project delivery
  • Significant sales achievement including 8 major US$ 5m+ new signings
  • Successful start up and management of the infrastructure and initial project segments of WSS’s largest ever project (Deutsche Bank Global FX), implementing the WSS system in 30 locations through 3 regional hubs in Europe, Asia and the Americas
  • Responsible for gaining the first two merger projects for WSS - Deutsche Bank / Banker's Trust and Bank Austria / Credit Anstalt fulfilling the role of Project Director

1991 - 1995 FOX MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS LIMITED

A consulting company formed in 1990. Responsibilities and achievements included:

  • Ownership of IT and Marketing consulting activity
  • Gained consultancy business from over 20 new financial sector companies during 1992 to 1994
  • Won a high profile assignment in competition against major consultancy companies, for a 3 year framework agreement with the UK's Employment Department

Sample Commissions:

  • Assisted ICL in determining the strategic direction for a major banking software system it acquired
  • Undertook a market review for the board of Hill Samuel Bank into Corporate Cash Management Systems and Financial EDI
  • Created a complete new set of global commercial terms for BIS Banking Systems and setup and ran their initial customer satisfaction survey
  • Undertook a worldwide research project for BIS Banking Systems among the top 200 banks worldwide

1976 - 1991 BIS BANKING SYSTEMS LIMITED (now MISYS)

1987 - 1991 Divisional Director, Corporate Services
BIS' main product was MIDAS, the world's most successful international banking system. The company grew from 30+ to over 900 staff during this period. Responsibilities and achievements included:

  • Worldwide project and sales support assistance with global team of product and project experts reporting to me
  • Working with key customers and the BIS board and management to determine product/service direction
  • Global commercial terms and product launch/roll out
  • Responsible for determining the strategy for the next generation Midas product
  • Determined the market situation in four major business areas (Retail, Trade Finance, Global Custody and Dealing Room Systems) and the strategy in these markets

1985 - 1987 Regional Marketing Director, Asia Pacific/Australasia
General Manager, Japan
Responsibilities and achievements included:

  • Established regional marketing function in Asia/Australia
  • Responsible for Japan and liaison with Japanese agents
  • Significantly exceeded (160%) revenue targets including companies largest ever single location sale
  • Acquired a retail banking system from a US software house

1983 - 1985 General Manager, Hong Kong Branch
Responsibilities and achievements included:

  • Revenue increased by 50% per annum each year
  • Localized product development and support
  • Opened up markets in Taiwan, Korea and Thailand
  • Set up a Tokyo office
  • Specified and developed a retail banking system and successfully sold and installed it in 5 initial sites

1982 - 1983 Regional Operations Manager, EMEA
Responsibilities and achievements included:

  • Sales support and systems implementation for banks in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa
  • Appointment and management of agents
  • Acquisition of a nostro reconciliations system
  • Region was a profit center and achieved 150% of budget

1979 - 1982 Manager, International Systems Division
Based at various times in London, New York, Brussels and Hong Kong, and responsible for overseas implementations and support

1978 - 1979 Manager, European Support Division
Responsibilities and achievements included:

  • Set up this division with responsibility for the ongoing support of all clients in the UK and Europe
  • Created maintenance service, all associated commercial and contractual requirements, and signed all customers to service

  • Sales and implementation of international banking systems in start up situations
